The Dyke?

The ancient city of Thebes in its most ancient form is te-qa-i (𐀳𐀣𐀂). There is an Indo-European root dʰeygʷ- that means ‘to dig, to ditch’. It is in fact the root of English ‘ditch’ and ‘dyke’.

Is this the root of the city name?
